A Virtual Tombstone

I visited Nian Ning’s Facebook page a moment ago, a friend who died in a bus accident early last year.

I thought it was interesting to see that her FB page has relatively recent comments on it. In fact, there is one every week or two. Friends, still missing her, left comments on her page: birthday wishes, expressions of lost, photo tags, shout outs, even virtual kisses (kinda creepy when you think about it).

It was as if that her FB account has been converted into a virtual tombstone where her friends can come and leave flowers, and mourn over her lost. I wonder if she receives private messages too.

She may not post status updates anymore, but the bubbly girl lives on in cyberspace.

Rest in peace, Nianz.
